Eligibility Criteria of British Academy International Fellowships

The candidate must:

  • Applicants with a Ph.D. or in the latter stages of their Ph.D. will be admitted if their Ph.D. is completed (including viva) before the Fellowship’s start date. Before any Fellowship grant may be verified, the Ph.D. award must be confirmed.
  • At the time of application, applicants should have at most seven years of active full-time postdoctoral experience (excluding career gaps but including teaching experience or time spent in industry).
  • Work in a country other than the United Kingdom.
  • Not be a British citizen.
  • Be fluent in both spoken and written English.
  • Agree on a research plan that is well-defined and mutually beneficial with a UK host researcher.
