  • Undergraduate Performance: The selection committee will determine the overall, with a particular focus on relevant field-specific course performances of the applicants.
  • Reference Letters: The professor’s and senior scientists’ recommendation letters
  • Statement of Purpose: The applicant’s previous research experience and motivation for applying to this particular Ph.D. program
  • Additional Relevant Field-Specific Skills: Demonstrated such as internships, research projects participation, programming languages, participation in science Olympiads, lab techniques, etc.
  • Transferable Skills: The transferable skills include communication skills, previous mobility and international experiences, teamwork experience, leadership experience as demonstrated in student organizations, etc.

Required Document

ISTA asks all applicants to upload the following required documents to the application portal:

  • Updated CV
  • Statement of Purpose (1-2 pages maximum):Explain the student’s research experience and motivation for applying to the ISTA Ph.D. program. While writing the statement, applicants should specify up to three research groups they find the most interesting. They do not need to contact potential supervisors at this stage.
  • University Transcripts and Diplomas: Applicants should submit all degree programs and all the programs they have attended or are currently enrolled in any program. The documents must be in English and the original language.
