Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, the President of the SUG, Comrade Michael Oloyede said it had become a matter of urgent public importance for the varsity to be restored.
Earlier, the Education Minister, Alhaji Adamu Adamu had directed that effective from 2018 school year that each one management courses of specialized institutions must be discontinued.
Oloyede said that the school had proven to be a fertile ground for the expansion of the institution because it enhanced the facelift for agricultural courses by incorporating the business and management aspects of agriculture.
Following the directives of the Education Minister, Alhaji Adamu Adamu in 2018, for the discontinuation of all management courses in specialized institutions, the Students’ Union Government (SUG), of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has called on the federal to possess a rethink and consider reinstating management science courses.
The President of the SUG, Comrade Michael Oloyede made the appeal while speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, 17 February, saying that restoring the school has become a matter of urgency. Oloyede said the school of management sciences had during its existence, made agricultural courses competitive and appealing, by embracing the business and management aspects of agriculture.
He added that running management science courses in universities of agriculture was a suitable global practice and this doesn’t affect the power of the university to coach students within the area of its key mandate.
The college of management sciences is formed from five departments – accounting, banking and finance, business administration, economics, and entrepreneurial studies, and everyone have NUC full accreditation which validates the programmers.
