FG to pay ASUU N30bn is the outcome of the meeting of ASUU and the Federal Government on 15th October 2020. It’s now clear that the Federal Government of Nigeria has agreed to pay the sum of N30bn earned academic allowance to the university lecturers.
The lecturers have been on strike for over six months. Close door meeting of ASUU executives and the Federal Government yesterday, 15th October showed that there’s now a level of compromise between the two fighting elephants.
The FG has agreed to pay the lecturers the whooping sum of N30bn between May 2021 and February 2022. This money will be paid to them in tranches.
Another interesting aspect is that FG also accepted to invest about N20bn on the education sector revitalization as part of agreement terms aimed at ending the seven-month strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
