EndSars 2020 – Ebonyi Protests – MC Garnish and Others
EndSARS protest continues in all the 36 states of Nigeria. Today, 15th October, 2020, a group of Ebonyi youths trooped out to the street, MC Garnish and others.
All over the country and different cities, demonstrations against police brutality have been taking place at least for the past one week.
Even though the authorities have disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). A lot of accusations have been meted against the unit for their many extrajudicial killings, extortion and torture, especially of innocent young people.
Even though the Federal Government of Nigeria through the IGP has earlier announced the ban of SARS and recent replacement with SWAT , Nigerian youths have continued to protest against the announcement.
MC Garnish and many other Ebonyi youths trooped en masse in the streets of Abakaliki to join the voices in the public disgrace the IGP has caused by creating SWAT to replace SARS. Their protest is that SWAT is the same thing as SARS since it’s the same people that are expected to report to the new unit (SWAT).

The protesters visited so many points in the state, the predominant was when they gathered old Government House along Ogoja Road immediately after Udensi roundabout. They were all gathered there shouting, ENDSARS!!! ENDSWAT!!!
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has announced that the NYIF portal is open for youths to apply for NYIF Registration 2020-2023.
Some of the youths have refused to apply, saying that the Federal Government is using the NYIF Registration as a distraction to their EndSARS protest.
